Mayor Dale Graunke is serving his second term as Mayor for the City of Delano. He was elected to the serve a four-year term in the November 2010 election and re-elected in the November,2014 election.  His current term will expire Dec. 31, 2018.

Graunke as serves as the president of the Delano Economic Development Authority (EDA). In addition to his duties as Mayor, Mayor Graunke serves on the School Subcommittee, Economic Development Committee and as Council liaison to the Planning Commission.

Council Member Betsy Stolfa

Council Member Betsy Stolfa was elected to the Delano City Council in 2008 and re-elected in 2012 and 2016. Her current term will expire on Dec. 31, 2020.

Stolfa serves on the School Subcommittee and the Senior Advisory Board, and as council liaison on the Water, Light, and Power Commission.

Council Member Jason Franzen

Council Member Jason Franzen was elected to City Council at the November, 2014 general election. His current term will expire on Dec. 31, 2018. 

Franzen also serves as vice president of the EDA.  Franzen serves on the Senior Advisory Board, Safe Schools, Wright County Area Transportation, and Sustainability Task Force.

Council Member Holly Schrupp

Council Member Holly Schrupp was originally appointed to Delano City Council in 2003 and continued through December 31, 2012.  Council Member Schrupp was re-elected to serve a four-year term in the November 2014 election – her term will expire December 31, 2018. Schrupp also serves as treasurer of the Delano Economic Development Authority and as council liaison on the Park and Recreation Commission and to the Delano Fire Relief Association.

Council Member Jon Sutherland was elected to City Council in the November 2016 general election. His current term will expire Dec. 31, 2020. Sutherland serves as council liaison on the Park and Recreation Commission and Public Safety Commission.

The Delano City Council is a group of five elected officials who each serve four-year terms. The city council meets regularly on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Delano City Hall, 234 Second Street North. The meetings begin at 7 p.m. and are open to the public.

The regular council meetings are also broadcast live on Charter Cable Channel 180. The meetings are also rebroadcast at various times throughout the week.

City commissions and committees

The Delano City Council has four advisory boards. All meetings of these boards are open to the public, and additional meeting information can be found at www.delano.mn.us or by calling Delano City Hall at (763) 972-0550.

Planning commission

Delano’s Planning Commission is comprised of seven members who meet the second Monday of each month at city hall at 7 p.m.

The commission prepares and maintains the city’s comprehensive plan and is also responsible for making recommendations to the city council involving any plat approvals, zoning amendments, re-zonings, variances, appeals, special use permits, and other matters.

Its members are: Larry Bartels, Jeremy Clarke, Jeff Demeules, Angela Kalthoff, Jon Krieg, Nat Malen, and Steve Williams. 

Park and recreation commission

The park and recreation commission advises the Delano City Council on both long-and short-term park management and construction for the city. Members meet the fourth Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m.

Its members are:  Sarah Berres, Mike Lindquist, Marnie Lucas, Dan Menk, Sean Peterson, Tom Schaffer, and Jonathon Werth.

Public safety commission

The public safety commission meets six times a year on the last Monday of every other month at Delano City Hall conference room at 7 p.m.

Its members are: James Anderson, Matt Boelter, Scott Bohler, Judith Criego, Michael Merriman, Roger Swenson, and Tracy Vertruba.

Water, light, and power commission

The Delano Municipal Utilities is a non-profit electric and water utility owned by the City of Delano and operated by the Delano Water, Light and Power Commission. The water, light and power commission meets the third Monday of each month at Delano City Hall at 7 p.m.

Its members include: Randy Keranen, Larry Nelson, Jonathon Ness, Adam Steffl, and Betsy Stolfa.
