Once upon a time
DELANO, MN – Once upon a time . . . 60 years ago, in fact, three couples were married.
It was June 1949, and as they said “I do,” little did they know that years later, they’d end up celebrating anniversaries with strangers from other parts of Minnesota.

Final phase of Highway 12 to start July 7
DELANO, MN – At a special workshop meeting June 30, the Delano City Council approved a resolution to apply for a $770,000 bond to fund Phase 2 of the Highway 12/Bridge Avenue project, which is set to begin Tuesday, July 7. The bond will cover the road, sidewalk, and lighting costs, as well as the $40,000 to $50,000 bonding cost, Finance Director Brian Bloch said.

Wooden cross carried 1,100 miles; passes through Wright Co.
WRIGHT COUNTY, MN – David Valderrama, 29, has carried his large wooden cross more than 1,000 miles since he first began a journey that eventually brought him to Wright County. He was spotted last Monday, just east of Howard Lake as he walked along Highway 12 through the cities of Delano, Montrose, and Waverly, heading towards Howard Lake and Cokato on his way to his final destination, Litchfield.

A year in the life of Delano royalty
DELANO, MN – Many little girls dream of one day being a princess, and each year three young ladies realize this dream as they are crowned Delano Royalty. From parades to festivals to fundraisers and appearances, being a princess may not be all glitz and glamour, yet for the 2008-09 Delano royalty, it has truly been a dream come true.

Delano roads to be in good shape by 2024
DELANO, MN – By 2024, the City of Delano plans to have all streets in need of reconstruction repaired, utilizing a different plan than first proposed in 2003 for the $12 million project. At a special workshop for the City of Delano, council members discussed making changes to the original pavement management plan, which was developed with the help of professional engineering firm Bolton and Menk.
